Canadian scientists have found a new mechanism of interaction of drugs with fruit juices, testifying on the inadmissibility of their joint reception. He is in violation suction certain drugs under the influence of components juices.
Until now it was known only grapefruit juice effect on the metabolism of certain drugs. It is that bergamottin contained in grapefruit, suppresses the activity of the enzyme CYP3A4, which splits nearly 50 existing medicines. Thus, the increased concentration of these drugs in blood plasma and slowing their withdrawal.
Scientists from the University of Western Ontario examined the interaction of grapefruit juice with fexofenadine antihistamine drug, which is not metabolized, with the participation of CYP3A4. To do so, three groups of healthy volunteers offered to fexofenadine with grapefruit juice, mortar naringin (substances attached grapefruit bitter taste) and clean water.
It turned out that while taking the drug with juice absorbed only half that amount, which is absorbed in the admission of water. Scientists also found that this effect is due to the fact that naringin protein suppresses OATP1A2, transfers lumen medications from the bowels of blood. Similar properties found in orange and apple juice.
To date, suction violation detected by the action specified juices following drugs: beta-blockers atenolol, and celiprolol talinolol; cytostatic cyclosporin and etoposide;
The head of research Professor David G. Bailey feels that this list is far from full, and recalls that the medicines recommended zapivat clean water.
